When Allison McCammon of Greene County saw the tornado funnel near her home Friday night, she got scared and drove her three sons to her dad’s house.
“While she's in the car moving, some of the trees ended up getting picked up, and one of them was dropped right on top of the car, killing her instantly,” said Aaron Kerns, a family friend.
Kerns described Allison as friendly, bubbly and a good mom.
“She's a big loss of the family,” he said. “But every day gets a little bit different, a little bit, hopefully, better for them.”

While the family’s home was not damaged, her nine-year-old son, Teigan, is in the hospital; he has various facial and neck fractures and is sedated. A neurologist found no swelling in the brain. Teigan will be in the hospital for weeks and will not be able to finish the school year.
“They've had their first surgery on Saturday,” Kern said. “I'm told they're going to have several more, so we're still waiting to hear when and what that's going to entail.”
Kerns has put together a gofundme to help support the family. He has raised $26,000 so far.
“The father works hard. He is the provider, but you got four kids, and they're into a lot of activities, and it takes money,” he said. “And I knew that there was a need for that, and I wanted to do something to help.”
The family is planning the funeral.
“We're trying to get back to fairly normal activities for the kids, you know, with their school, with the football games,” Kerns said.
