The clock is ticking for residents impacted by recent severe storms to seek physical damage disaster relief.
The loan is provided by the U.S. Small Business Administration and offers resources for homeowners, nonprofits and small businesses. Stephen Clark, representative of the administration’s Office of Disaster Recovery and Resilience, told the Monroe County Board of Commissioners on Thursday that the county’s local outreach center will close June 18.
The center is located at Ivy Tech Community College at 200 Daniels Way, room B201.
“We have trained, experienced, and friendly customer service representatives there who can assist disaster survivors with making applications for disaster loans in person,” Clark said.
The loan is available online for about six more weeks after the outreach center closes.
“And I guess most importantly, we do not want anyone to miss the physical damage disaster loan application deadline of July 29th,” he said.
Clark also said loans are available before residents receive insurance settlements.
Homeowners can apply for up to $500,000 in assistance. Nonprofits and small businesses can apply for up to $2 million. Homeowners and renters are also eligible for up to $100,000 in assistance to repair and replace personal property, such as clothing and cars.
